ZRA financial review call for volunteersOctober 23, 2017 CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
As many of you are aware, ZRA has historically contracted a CPA firm to perform an annual review of the Association’s finances. In soliciting bids this year, it has come to the attention of the Board that contracting an outside accounting firm to conduct the review would consume a very large percentage of our annual budget.
We consulted further with one of these firms, and were advised that an association of our size and budget does not require an annual review for regulatory or tax purposes. As an alternative, the firm suggested that we save our money and solicit volunteers to conduct a review. We feel that opening the books to member review is also a great way to make Board activities more transparent to ZRA membership.
This is where you come in… we are looking for members (or generous family or friends of members) with an accounting, financial or bookkeeping background to conduct a review of the Association’s finances. The accounts are relatively small and straightforward; we anticipate only a few hours of work at the most.
If you have some financial experience and are willing to conduct a review, please volunteer! This is a great way to contribute to ZRA without a long-term commitment.
