ZRA announces the deployment of its online Training Certificate Program and strategic partnership with San Diego Zoo Global Academy

August 01, 2018

The Zoological Registrars Association (ZRA) announces its new online Training Certificate Program will be available 22 October 2018. The Training Certificate Program is comprised of 6 modules covering the core duties and established competencies of the zoological registrar role:

Module 1: History and Established Tenets of Animal Records
Module 2: Records and Information Management (RIM)
Module 3: Transactions
Module 4: US Federal Wildlife Permits and Regulations
Module 5: Live Animal Logistics
Module 6: Biological Samples and Biofacts

Each module has an exam to determine the Learner’s proficiency and level of comprehension and trainees will receive a Certification of Completion upon passing exams for each module and/or the entire program.

With the expanding scope of records management and legal reporting requirements within the animal care profession, a call to action for knowledge transfer through an accessible, affordable and comprehensive training program for this business need has been answered by ZRA.

“ZRA has a long standing mission of advancing the zoological registrar profession and is proud to be able to offer this training to its community with San Diego Zoo Global Academy (SDZG Academy) as a key partner in its development,” says Rae Haliday, Co-Vice Chairman of the ZRA Professional Development Committee.

In partnership with SDZG Academy, http://sdzglobalacademy.org, ZRA subject matter experts representing over 200 years of collective experience in the zoological registrar profession, advisors and outside reviewers from the Records and Information Management (RIM), Federal wildlife agencies and education communities, have all contributed to the development of an outstanding training program.
