AZA Scholarship
Institutional Records Keeping
A Scholarship to Cover Registration Costs
The Zoological Registrars Association (ZRA) Training Scholarship awards funds to cover tuition (at the AZA Early Bird member rate) for the AZA Institutional Records Keeping Course. Transportation and lodging costs would be the responsibility of the recipient or the recipient’s institution.
Eligibility Requirements:
- ZRA Professional or Associate member in good standing *.
- Plan to renew ZRA membership next year.
- Employment at a zoological facility (AZA institution preferred).
- Written recommendation of supervisor.
- Signature of CEO on the application.
All completed application materials, including written recommendation, must be received by the ZRA Training Committee Chair by the application deadline, which is typically in late October. Please reach out to any member of the Training Committee if you have any questions about the scholarship!
(* A member in good standing is one who is current in the payment of dues to ZRA and has not been reprimanded or censured by the Ethics Committee, or suspended or expelled from ZRA in the past three years.)
Award Criteria
The Training Committee will review all applications to make sure they are complete and the applicants are eligible. The Committee will then chose the winner (or, sometimes, winners) based upon their:
- Job performance
- Professional involvement and contribution in ZRA, AZA, or other professional zoological association.
- Letter of recommendation from their supervisor
The choices of the Training Committee will get final approval by the ZRA Board of Directors. Winners will be notified by 1 November. Please keep in mind that this award covers the Early Bird Rate, so award recipients should register for the class as soon as they hear from ZRA.
