Bylaws
Rules and Regs
The Bylaws is a set of rules established by an organization or community so as to regulate itself. ZRA’s Bylaws explain the purpose of the Association, how to become a Member, and how the Board of Directors is organized. The Bylaws also describes how Committees are established.
In the "Resources" section below, you can find our current Bylaws. If you are interested in looking at any of the prior Bylaws, please reach out to the History Committee for help. If you have any questions about our bylaws, any member of the Bylaws Committee can provide assistance!
Amending the Bylaws
Bylaws are a living document, meant to adapt to a changing environment so the organization can remain healthy even as people and purpose might change. However, rules should be modified with deliberate care, so it isn’t necessarily easy to make changes!
To amend the Bylaws, fill out the "Bylaws Ammendment Proposal" form below and send it to any member of the ZRA Bylaws Committee. Committee members will then consider the proposal and study the Bylaws to make sure the proposed amendment will not contradict some other part of the Bylaws.
Once the Bylaws Committee has cleared the proposal, they will share it with the membership. The membership then has at least 30 days to review the proposal, ask questions, and state opinions. All of this will happen on the Voting page of the website. After 30 days, the membership will vote. A 2/3 majority will win the argument.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact a member of the Bylaw Committee to learn more.
