Policies
Wait, Don’t Go To Sleep Yet!
Policies Are Important!
A lot of eyes glaze over when we talk about policies and procedures, but these documents are where we “walk the walk.” When we set out rules for ourselves, we are figuring out how our values impact the way we exist in the real world. Policies are the way for an organization to truly say, this matters. Sometimes, a policy makes life more difficult – but there is a reason for that! For example, it is difficult to import an endangered species into the United States, but it is difficult because it is important to make sure that importation isn’t impacting imperiled wild populations. When you think of it, polices describe the best version of an organization – and that is kind of inspiring!
This page includes all current ZRA policies. If you are interested in looking at prior versions of any policy, please contact the History Committee for access to the archives. If you have a question about a current policy, please contact a member of the Board of Directors for clarification.

Didn't find what you were looking for?
If you thought a policy would be here and it isn't, you have three options:
- Use the search feature at the top of the window to find the document you are searching for
- Ask the History Committee if they have a copy in their archives - maybe the policies has been inactivated, in which case it would have been handed over to HC for proper filing
- Check out the Resources page - maybe we didn't think the document you are thinking of was a policy
If you are looking for Standing Rules, which are living documents that describe to each committee and Board member how to do their core responsibilities, you will not find them here. Each standing rules document lives on the page for that committee or group: the standing rules for the President can be found on the Leadership page, the standing rules for the Newsletter Committee is on the Newsletter Committee page, etc. Please navigate to the page you are interested in or use the search feature.
"Appeasement" is the policy of feeding your friends to a crocodile, one at a time, in hopes that the crocodile will eat you last.
