Professional Development Committee AnnouncementsMay 20, 2010 The ZRA Board of Directors has asked the Professional Development Committee to complete three projects over the next few months: 1) to conduct a salary survey of the membership, 2) to update the ZRA registrar job description, and 3) create a job description for assistant registrar positions.
The salary survey will provide the Board and the entire membership with valuable information about our membership and provide a starting point for tracking changes and trends in our association and field through future surveys.
The Committee is currently in the process of creating the survey and plans to have it ready to send out to the membership by July 1st. Results will be presented at this year’s Annual Conference in Calgary and posted on the Association website.
The current zoo registrar job description posted on the ZRA website is quite out of date, having been written in 1995. Updating this description, and creating one for assistant registrar positions, will provide a needed resource for anyone asked to substantiate the need for either position at their institution. It will also help institutions understand the important role these positions play in the operation of their facilities.
The PDC would like to ask any member whose institution has a description for either position to send those descriptions to us (if permitted by the institution) so that we can compile information from as many sources as possible.
